Photos Of The Month #9

Welcome back to our round up of the best African inspired photos of the month!

If you haven't already, you should check out our previous posts as there's so much more to see!

Here are August’s highlights:

Mandrill Portrait (Tim Flach)

"Mandrills form the largest social groups of any non-human primate, with a troop of 1,300 once recorded in the forests of Gabon. With their striking faces and eyes, they have evolved some of the most spectacular colouration of any mammalian species, the intensity of which signifies their social and sexual status. Sadly, it is not just their appearance that is appealing; mandrill meat is considered a delicacy in West Africa, and it is part of a growing trade, with tons of bush meat being smuggled into western Europe every week. Logging and farming are limiting their places of refuge, and these remarkable animals are in urgent need of stronger protections." Tim Flach

Shake It Off (Sergey Gorshkov)

“The Tamboti female was an incredibly special leopard, it was a privilege to glance into her life for nearly six years! More importantly I was able to share special moments, especially when this one with a good friend and mentor Sergey Gorshkov.” Don Heyneke

Family (Don Heyneke)

A special moment with one of Africa’s most misunderstood animals! We especially love the negative space made in between the cub and hyena mother. Perfect!
